Charley In the Box?

It's been a couple of weeks since I posted, but it's been a relaxing social scene and hectic work scene as of late so I haven't had much to post. Not that I ever have anything worth posting ;), but I certainly try.
Turkey Day went pretty well, off to the boss's house for baked turkey and fried turkey. Never had fried turkey before, but I have to admit I still prefer regular turkey over it. Plus I've heard that you can burn your house down pretty easily if you don't know how to fry a turkey.
I didn't gorge myself, but I did try a little of everything on the table.

Yes, I missed my family and friends a lot. I wish they lived closer, but I by no means want to move back to Jersey. Florida is too much of a good thing. Can't beat having a turkey day in shorts. Although if the Republicans have their way and don't admit global warming exists, I have a feeling in about 40 years people in Alaska will be able to say the same thing.

Black Friday weekend wasn't bad at all, nothing crazy. I recently dropped down to 210, which means I've almost lost 30 lbs since I moved down here. It ain't much a month, but it's not healty to lose or gain weight too fast. Hopefully I can hit 190ish for Jon's wedding with my goal of 170-175 still attainable by the end of next summer. It's a lot to ask for, but someone once told me that if I put my mind to it I can accomplish anything. And that I should hate manure....;)

Where's My Supersuit?

Weekend Recap

Well I started the weekend a little early thanks to some call outs. Basically I had to work a ton of hours early in the week, so I cut out early later in the week. It's a lose/win scenario. I lose because I get pissed off and frustrated early, I win because I get to enjoy more of the weekend.

-Friday I drove on down to Tampa to visit a friend that moved down there from Massachusetts. I put the Mapquest directions in and got back a trip that should take 3 hours and 42 mins. What I actually got was a drive that was 5 hours and 34 minutes. See unfortunately Mapquest doesn't account for Orlando, aka The Happiest Place On Earth. Oh yeah, I saw a lot of happy people in the 8 miles of traffic. There was Sal the truck driver who decided, "hey I'm driving a big rig, I can tailgate this Civic and almost crash into him!". Then there was the traffic bulletin signs. You know the ones that read "Congestion. From Exit 342 to 345. 10 minute delay." So you get through that congestion, go one exit and then you get another sign telling you of a 20 minute delay, then get through that and get another.
After wading through the traffic I arrived in Tampa and we caught up on old times and new times, hit a restaurant that turns into a club/bar after 10. It was ladies night, but the feeling wasn't right. It quickly turned into a sausage party and I was drowsy from driving 5.5 hours and being up since 4:30 AM, so that was that night.
-Saturday was a sleep in day, then we went to Clearwater beach. I didn't see much of Clearwater except for the beach, but it was b e a utiful. It had the sugar sand, which is something I'm not used to being from the Northeast. After a few hours on the beach, we saddled up for Ribfest. Alas, Ribfest was not anything close to Chilifest. You had to pay to get in and pay for Ribs and beer! And no complimentary pint glass. So I say to those who balk at the $35 for Chilifest, things could be worse...you could go to Ribfest and get no momento and pay $35 in just beer to get drunk! My absolute favorite part was seeing a family of 3 walking around in overalls with no shoes on. Only the woman had a shirt on underneath.
Saturday night I hit the drive home expecting a shorter ride since Saturday has no work traffic to deal with. Nope. I hit a spot on 95 between Daytona and Jax, where I moved about 2 miles in 2 hours. Apparently some tractor trailer came barreling across from the other side and slammed into a car traveling in the opposite direction...Looking at the car, I felt bad that I even was pissed that I was stuck in traffic because there is no way that the person survived. That's one time where you just have to say, there are bigger things in life then being stuck in traffic.
-Sunday, didn't do much. Watched Blade 3, and I wasn't that impressed. I'd say the second Blade takes the cake. It seems like Dracula was a far less impressive villian than the other two. But it did have Jessica Biel, so it wasn't all bad. I also managed to finally see the Incredibles and the title of the movie describes the movie itself. Top that off with an episode of Family Guy where Peter, Quagmire, Joe, and Cleveland are dressed up as The A-Team and you have a solid day of doing absolutely nothing wrapped up nicely. Alright, I hope that keeps the captive audience at bay....and look Jon, no sports!
